Are your stairs fully finished and easily maintained?
All stairs are factory finished. On completion the stairs will need no other work by other trades. Maintenance is minimal, if the stairs are kept clean, they will stay pristine for a lifetime.
How long do the stairs take to fit?
Our stairs take approximately two days to fit per flight depending on the shape and amount of gallery. Large stairs, multiple flights and complex designs can take longer.
What is a cantilevered staircase?
A true cantilevered staircase is a design where each tread is fixed only at one end. The supporting structure is hidden within each tread and behind the face of the wall. There are no supports between the treads.

Do you make an ‘all glass’ stair?
We are able to produce glass tread and balustrade staircases connected together with stainless steel fittings, examples can be seen on the website.
Are your stairs made of solid timber or are they veneered?
Both are used as required, curves are made with solid timber with laminated staves for strength and stability.
Can I mix and match different components from the stairs pictured?
If it is feasible and possible, Kevala Stairs Ltd will do all it can to accommodate your ideas.
Can oak be stained to the colour of walnut?
Yes, but the grain will stay the same.
How thick does the glass have to be?
This is dependent on whether the glass will be used in a structural manner or for decorative purposes. It can vary in size from 8mm toughened for slotted pieces up to 25mm toughened and laminated for structural balustrades and glass walls and even 34mm toughened and triple laminated for glass treads, glass landings and glass floors.
