Project Description
Bishops Heath (KS1867)
Materials: Powder-coated steel, stained timber, marble
Location: Englefield Green, Surrey
Bishops Heath is a newly-built mansion house, located on one of the most prestigious roads near Windsor Great Park, close to the Wentworth Estate & Golf Course. Set within mature landscaped grounds of approximately four acres, the graciousness of the setting is reflected in the interior design.
A grand arched door opens into a double height reception hall with a marble floor. The sweeping marble staircase, rising two floors, is embellished with an elegant hand-crafted balustrading created by Kevala Stairs.
As part of the design process, our draftsman presented the client with a variety of design options, some of which can be seen below.
For the final design, spanning from the ground to the second floor, 35 metres of powder-coated steel balustrade was manufactured. Full lengths of hand-crafted balustrading were prefabricated, then delivered to site.
To minimise joins in this exceptional handrail, Ash was used because it is available in very long lengths.
After installation of the balustrading, the handrail was fitted in the white. It was then disassembled, stained and French-polished, before being re-fitted to the steel balustrade. Although time-consuming, this technique ensures a perfect finish, as it minimises the risk of damage during installation.
